Transport Pilot Jeff Bennett, From the Keys!

Transport Pilot Jeff Bennett, From the Keys!

Thursday started a 7am as I departed the Florida Keys on my way to Marianna, FL to pick up 7 dogs that were to be euthanized that weekend. Their rescue destination was Melbourne, FL on the east coast of Florida. I then flew over to Tampa, on the west coast, where I was to meet up with Jason, a pilot from Georgia, who was bringing me 4 dogs. Unfortunately, Jason developed a flat tire on his nosewheel on taxi from Americus, GA. Jason arrived in St. Petersburg at 7pm with his wife Amy (they were spending their anniversary flying dogs and partying in St Pete).

I ended up flying all 4 dogs to the Florida Keys where we arrived around 9:30pm and fostered them until the next day. I had to go to Miami on Friday for a meeting, so I drove 3 of the dogs north and met up with Pati from the Dalmation Rescue and transferred the dogs. I adopted the 4th dog, a great little female black lab.

I got a little flying in on a beautiful night with a full moon!! It was a long day but 11 dogs were saved, winds were calm and even with the glitches it was still a great day/night to be in the air.
