Hannah and Papa Scooter, run for home!
Hello, Everyone!
My name is Hannah, and I am a “blue” greyhound. Everyone tells me how
beautiful I am, but I’m here to tell you what real beauty is…..
I used to run on the racetrack- fast, fast, fast. But there came a time when
I just couldn’t finish the race first. So, I went to the farm, a place like
where my life first started. There, I met a very kind old dog- Papa Scooter.
Turns out that Scooter was quite the racer. When he started to slow down, he
also went back to the farm. And then he became a papa- again, and again, and again. He had such good genes, that he kept being a papa until now-at 12
years old!
Then one wonderful day, the very nice people on the farm told us
that rescue groups are going to help us, and we are going to live with
families of our own. Some fantastic people in New York are opening up their
homes for us to stay! But how do two greyhounds get from Florida to New
York? This is where I have never seen something so beautiful happen- one by one, caring people are helping us get all the way across the United States!
Our adventure started yesterday. The caring people at the farm drove Scooter and I to the airport near the farm. We hopped onto a small plane with Mike and Janine(and another small girl named Chloe in the crate behind us), and into the air we went. I have never seen anything like this before! Papa Scooter and I didn’t know what to think- we looked out the windows, and I stretched my neck to check out every inch of this odd greyhound transporter. Sometimes the plane would rock a little- I would pop up my ears and look at the floor and ask Papa Scooter, “Did you feel that too???? What was that????” I was a little nervous, so Papa Scooter put his paws across mine and assured me everything is fine .
Janine kept scratching our necks and ears. She told us wonderful things about soft beds, heating and air conditioning, and stuffies. Mike and Papa Scooter also did some “guy talk” too- Papa was giving Mike tips on how to remain a stud for all those years! We both took a nap, and arrived in North Carolina before we knew it.
A very nice lady, Lise, met us there (see last photo). We hopped in her car,
and she and Dale are driving us into Virginia. We will be meeting many
wonderful people who will continue our journey until we reach our new home.
And that, everyone, is BEAUTY!!!!!
