Warning – You May Adopt Your Passenger
Yes, we’ve said it before. This time, one lucky passenger did go home with his pilot…
The two vans teaming with pups arrived at 9 am CST. Rebcca Harshman and Kandys Killough brought in dogs from Greenville and Clanton, AL. The plane came filled with crates donated by Petmate, but when all the crates onboard were full there were still a half dozen crates on the wet tarmac with tiny brown eyes staring out begging not to be left behind.
We started rearranging and finding more places to stash kennels and more room in already crammed kennels. In the end, with rain pouring down and lightening cracklling everyone got in, somehow.
In Lakeland there was a train of cars and vans waiting to fill up. Everyone sorted and sifted and found their dogs and everyone made it home, including a very special lab who had stolen a ride at the last minute to catch the plane ride out.
Apparently, Devon was daydreaming when the warning was given…
Devon’s 15 year old Lab went to the rainbow bridge last week, and Devon was looking to adopt another Lab. Connor, pictured with Devon, was pulled from the Chilton County Humane Society and at the last minute made the rescue flight to Lakeland, FL. Connor is a special lab and very happy boy, and so is his new dad.
Thank you ever so much to our partners in saving these precious lives, Subaru and Petmate.

Match made in the sky. We at the Chilton County Humane Society in Clanton, AL are very happy and excited that Connor aka Diego found his new dad. Btw, he was brought into our shelter with two siblings. One was a female who was blind and the other a male who was adopted locally. The blind sister went to a Lab rescue in NY.
