SOS for Ashley
Terrie Varnado, one of the many folks that coordinate transport for the lucky animals that are saved, shares this story…
Ashley is a Great Pyrenees that was about the be euthed at a Mobile shelter, when I got an SOS that she needed help. Rescue was secured in Newnan, GA…we just had to get her there. I enlisted the help of one of our newer PNP pilots, Beka R. This was Beka’s second flight for PNP. I had the pleasure of working with her on her first as well.
They picked Ashely up on Saturday morning and headed off into the wild blue yonder….except that the blue yonder faded to a huge storm cell. Beka, her husband, and Ashely had to land short of their destination and the weather was not going to clear that evening. Ashley was not in good shape, and Beka felt that she needed to get to her rescue ASAP.
So, Beka rented a car and drove north, as Linda, with the rescue, drove south. They met in the middle of nowhere to hand Ashely off to Linda. There was nothing but a McDonalds where they met up!!
Beka is an angel, and she went far above and beyond her duites to make sure that Ashley was delivered safe and sound. Thank you Beka for all of your help and thank you, Linda, for understanding that mother nature doesn’t always play fairly! This was definitely a first!
