Limited Time = Fast Response

Limited Time = Fast Response

Leslie from the Pender Co Animal Control Volunteer in Burgaw NC shares an incredible, heartwarming experience of a little border collie beauty named Kia.

She was found in Manteo, NC as a stray, running down a road and taken into the Dare County Animal Control. The owners were found, but they did not want her back due to a child’s allergies.

That’ll Do Again Rescue (a WONDERFUL group!) out of Charlotte, NC got word of her and leaped into action to try to save her. They were not able to get ground transport worked out fast enough, and that’s when pilot Ken Menzie and his wife Cindy, out of Raleigh/Durham, NC (RDU), sprang into action. I posted a Pilots N Paws request late Sunday evening. By Monday evening, Ken and Cindy had their flight plan scheduled, and little Kia was whisked away to the promise of a new beginning. What a wonderful example of a very fast, very dedicated, very driven team effort in a limited number of hours!

A HUGE thanks to Ken and Cindy Menzie! This could not have been possible without their overwhelming contribution to saving Kia’s life. She was the perfect crew member. Cindy reports that Kia gave them plenty of puppy kisses and a big “High Five” as her thanks.

As a volunteer with a county kill shelter, I can’t tell you how very important Pilots N Paws is to Animal Rescue efforts. Each and every flight mission is so very special. Today, Kia was given a second chance. All because of Ken and Cindy Menzie. They are Kia’s heroes. And they are mine, too.
