Mae Mae Woos Mike Young
Mike Young and his helpers headed out for two overlapping trips. The rescuees were Mae Mae and three other dogs pulled from high kill shelters. Mae Mae went from Wallace, NC (ACZ) to Caldwell (CDW) in northern NJ. The other three went from Kinston, NC (ISO) to Manville (47N) in central NJ.
“Mae Mae has been trying to get up north for a few weeks, but it never worked out. Finally this great 5-yr old gal made it to a foster and will likely be adopted very quickly. I was so impressed with her, I was thinking of fostering her myself for a local friend to look at. Then I would always be near her!
And yes, I fell in love with Mae Mae. That does not happen very often on my rescue flights. But when I first saw her picture a few weeks ago on PnP, there was something about her that made me determined to help save her. All this from her picture. Turns out I was right, when I met her, she turned out to be a fabulous dog. Once she knew I knew that, she gave me lots of kisses.”
Mike met Brad and his wife Michele at Friendly, MD (VKX). After a walk at VKX while waiting for Brad, Mae Mae trotted back to Mike’s plane looking for some assistance to get back into the baggage area to wait out the downtime while Brad re-fueled and prepped to take her. She knew that Mike’s plane had love and hope for her. Blame it on the Pilot and his helpers. That is a pretty easy blame to shoulder.
