Roxey’s Adventure
Roxey is a 15 pound, 2 year old American Eskimo. She had to leave her home in Michigan due to her owner having too many dogs for the city ordinance. Eskie Rescuers United (ERU) was contacted, and immediately a new home was found for her but it was in Maryland. Not a problem for Karon Stewart, the Midwest Regional Director for ERU as she knew that Pilots ‘n Paws was a resource she could tap.
The first pilot to offer a ride from Waterford, MI was Matt Nickell. Matt is fairly new with PnP, but he isn’t new to volunteering because he came from another part of the country where he flew with another group. Matt was to fly Roxey to Indiana, PA to meet pilot #2. Three days before the rehoming flight, the pilot notified Karon that he had to cancel getting Roxey to Maryland, but within hours, Gary Schneider saw her “urgent” plea on the flight request board and the flight was on again. Gary met Matt in Pennsylvania, and Roxey was on her way to a new home and new life.
Roxey joins a family of two other American Eskimos and knows that three is a very good number!! Roxey loved her pilots and her adventure, too!!
