Another Adventure for the Brooks

DSC00851December 1st, 2012 we started our 23rd Pilots N Paws Rescue at (3M5) Moontown Airport in Huntsville, AL, our home base. Weather was good getting out of Moontown, so we headed to Jasper, AL to pick up 14 puppies and 2 dogs from Tracy Rayburn. There were 2 fluffy puppies, Mia and Moses who were just dumped off the side of the road. These little ones were feral puppies but were just as sweet and lovable as could be.

Momma dog, not sure of her breed, came with 5 newborn babies who were only 3 days old. Crimson had 6 puppies that were 7 weeks old and so cute. Tinker was a Chihuahua and very tiny. We had an airplane full of puppies that cried until takeoff then they went to sleep. With all passengers loaded we took off for Bainbridge, GA. We met up with Gary Keilty, another Pilot N Paws pilot. We transferred all of the puppies to Gary’s airplane, and then he headed to Tampa,FL where he was met with a rescue.

It is always very emotional for these rescuers to let the dogs go, but they know the animals are headed for a better life.

All rescues are complex rescues, but they end up very successful. We appreciate how hard the volunteers work facilitating constantly changing dogs, destinations, times, pilots, and weather.

Unfortunately many others aren’t as lucky, and as you all know, the only answer to this devastating issue is to spay/neuter/rescue. All of these dogs are really sweet, and they deserve to be curled up on the living room floor at night not tossed out like trash.

Congratulations on all you’ve been able to accomplish with hard work and determination!
I’m proud of you. I live in Sacramento, CA.
and am trying to find an organization like yours that I can volunteer for. I’m currently with Sacramento Cert and am the
Animal Response Lead Coordinator. At this time we are regrouping due to unforseen circumstances and so I am looking for another volunteer group to add to my volunteerism. Do you know of any other group like yours or can you put me in contact with anyone who can help me connect with a group like yours so I can
volunteer for them? I’m right down the freeway to Sacramento International Airport so that is a plus.

I would appreciate any help you can give me.

    Carol
