Four Rescues Find Their Way Home

Four Rescues Find Their Way Home

By Jackie Bucuk

Home for Good Dog Rescue teamed up with Pilots N Paws on the afternoon of Sunday, January 27th to fly four lucky dogs from South Carolina to New Jersey. On a recent trip to Georgia and South Carolina, Home for Good founders and the Director of Marketing and Operations went on a mission to save over 100 dogs from euthanasia. The organization takes trips to the South to pull dogs from shelters and to visit their local fosters. Once a year, they invite volunteers to accompany them on a trip to see first-hand what the organization is all about.

Their mission during their last trip was a success and among the dogs that they were able to save were four pups that were chosen to fly first class from South Carolina to New Jersey via Pilots N Paws. Bert and Ernie, 5-month old Border Collie mix brothers were on the flight in addition to a 12-week old Lab mix named Cedric and 4-month old Lab/Retriever mix named Cassie. Home for Good founders and volunteers anxiously awaited the arrival of the dogs at Monmouth Executive Airport. Two Junior Volunteers made signs to welcome the rescues and Pilots Nick O’Connell and Keith Decker.

After the flight and some much needed cuddle time with the dogs, Home for Good volunteers took Bert, Ernie, Cassie and Cedric back to the office to get groomed, micro-chipped and ready to go to their foster homes. All four dogs were met by their foster families and went home to snuggle up on the couch and relax after a long day! Home for Good is a 100% foster-based rescue organization. They believe that foster homes are a wonderful alternative to a shelter in that they allow the dogs to socialize, learn and grow while also getting used to living in a home with a family.

Not long after the flight, Cedric was adopted! Bert, Ernie and Cassie are still in foster care, looking for their forever homes. See this video of Cassie playing in the snow when she got off the plane! (https://www.petfinder.com/pet-search?shelter_id=NJ652)

Home for Good Dog Rescue’s next two adoption events are Saturday, February 9th at PetSmart in Millburn from 11am-4pm and Saturday, February 16th at PetSmart in Bridgewater from 11am-4pm.

About Home for Good Dog Rescue

Home for Good Dog Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Summit, New Jersey. Our passion, as well as our mission, is to save dogs from euthanasia at high-kill shelters and provide them with a warm, loving home for good. We are comprised of dedicated volunteers and foster families who help us to rescue, nurture and find homes for dogs in need. Whether they are sick, injured, homeless, surrendered or lost, we do all we can to turn their situation around and start them on the path toward a brighter future. At Home for Good, we seek the best treatment for our animals. We provide medical care, training, support and hope. Our dogs are vaccinated and ID micro-chipped. Some require surgery from a specialist to repair broken limbs, while others may need additional rehabilitation time and specific medical care for respiratory illnesses, skin infections, heartworm treatments, and emergency surgeries. Through our adoption services, these loving animals are given a second chance at a happy and fulfilled life. We are a donor-supported organization that exists based on the generous contributions from the local community. There are countless dogs in need of being saved and our organization is growing in response to this need. Our funding comes purely from the kind hearts of individuals, foundations and businesses that love animals and believe in what we do.
