On Saturday, August 3rd, Pilots N Paws (www.pilotsnpaws.org) flew in a group of six lucky dogs from Georgia to New Jersey. One of these six would be Home for Good Dog Rescue’s (HFGDR) 2,000th adoption. HFGDR is a 100% foster-based rescue located in New Jersey who teamed up with Pilots N Paws to fly rescues to New Jersey to start their new life.

HFGDR started their rescue organization in August 2010. In just three years, they’ve reached their milestone of 2,000 adoptions, of which they should be very proud! Thanks to Pilots N Paws, HFGDR teamed up with pilots Nick O’Connell and Keith Decker to save the lives of many pups who needed their help. Among the six dogs that O’Connell and Decker flew in was Rascal, a 3.5 month old black lab mix, who was rescued from a shelter in Swainsboro, Georgia. Rascal eagerly got off the plane, greeted by HFGDR volunteers, and went on to meet his new family days later, becoming HFGDR’s 2,000th adoption! Amy Friedman and her son, Brian, adopted Rascal. “My lucky number is 13. I adopted my son, Brian, when he was 13 and now Rascal in 2013. Rascal is the dog of our dreams. He is a love, a gem. We truly love him.”

Home for Good will be celebrating their 2,000th adoption at their 3rd Annual Bark-A-Que on Saturday, Sept. 7th at the Village Green in Summit, New Jersey (between Maple St. & Broad St.). This event marks their 3rd anniversary and features dog adoptions, canine contests, children’s activities, vendors, food, live entertainment, tricky tray prizes, a 50/50 raffle, photos with your pet, a puppy kissing booth and more.

Rascal AdoptionAttendees can visit the microchip clinic where a vet will be inserting microchips for $35. Families can learn the latest tips on dog manners from certified behavioral trainers. Pet owners can show off their dog’s talent to compete for contest prizes. Home for Good’s adopted canines and their owners are invited to march at the Adopter Dog Parade; the most fashionably-attired dogs will be crowned “Mr. & Mrs. Bark-A-Que”. It’s sure to be a fun-filled day not to miss!
