PNP Pilot Flies Rescue Missions While In College

“This is Snoopy an 18 month old Doberman that got hit by a car in Nashville, TN and has been in a shelter since 8/23, his owners didn’t want to pay to fix his broken leg.  He was pulled out of the shelter by Patricia from the the Doberman assistance network and Pam of the Illinois Doberman rescue decided to take him in.  Patricia arranged ground transport from Nashville to Indianapolis via 3 volunteers and I flew from Lewis University Airport (KLOT) near Chicago down to Eagle Creek Airpark (KEYE) in Indianapolis after picking up my sister in Lafayette, IN. I ended up having to land at Bult Field in Monee, IL (c56) because I ended up having a small electrical problem in flight.  Luckily this wasn’t too far from Lewis ( where I was supposed to meet Pam) so she drove and met me there.

I found Pilots n Paws back in February while looking around on the Internet for ways to build flying time and gave it a try and loved the experience so now I’m doing them in my free time while I’m at school.”

    Andrew

You are a man beyond your years. A giving heart at your age is so very unusual- paying it forward now will reap you many rewards in the years to come and I’m sure is expressed in other areas of your life as well.

Good for you and your parents who obviously taught you well.

  2. Michele Hattingh says:

What a wonderful way to donate your time. You must be very proud of yourself, but I bet your friends and family must be just as proud. Thank you for helping our furr kids.

  3. Melinda says:

You have turned your personal need into a giving situation that benefits many. The doggies get a second chance at life, you get in flying hours, and you are rewarded with the satisfaction and joy of helping them. Bless you for your efforts to save them.

Kudos to you, Andrew! You have a heart of gold and you should be extremely proud of yourself. As a furbaby foster, a simple ‘thank you’ for your work just isn’t enough, but until the right words do come to me…….. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, a million times over!!!!!!!!!

  5. Martha says:

Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity! I wish more young people would follow your lead and get involved in rescue.

  6. Krismas says:

What a fine young man you are!! Anyone who gives themselves so selflessly for the love and safety of a dog, has certainly earned his wings (in Heaven).

    God Bless You!

Andrew you are the kind of son every mother dreams of. Your’s must be so proud. I’m retired from flying but still consider myself a pilot. I’m glad to count you in our numbers.

  10. Carolyn says:

Does he have a home lined up? What rescue group?

  11. Denise Coyle says:

Very touching story, Andrew you made my night! You are a true inspiration. Today I posted a video of other kids wanting to stop “stupid video’s” going viral in the internet, such as Twerking, Harlem shake and instead helping the homeless. It was amazing to see young kids making this kind of change. It is awesome to see you also change the lives of the dogs….thank you for making the world brighter!

  12. Teri Whitney says:

Jim Taylor said it best. I second the motion and applaud all involved. Great job.

  13. Bridget says:

    Andrew,

You are a wise and wonderful man. I was looking for your wings but you must have them neatly folded under your t-shirt! Bless you!
