A HUGE thank you to Pilot Scott Johnson!
A HUGE thank you to Pilot Scott Johnson! His very first Pilots N Paws mission helped a stray coonhound momma and her 9 puppies get from Chicago to their rescue in Minneapolis, MN. She was found as a stray in rural WV where a local rescue group was contacted about her. She was VERY pregnant and INJURED – probably from being caught in a wildlife trap. She was taken in by the rescue groups (BARC) that works to rescue dogs from the Boone Co WV Dog Pound but they also help at risk strays in the community. Long story short is that she was in foster care for one day then the pups were born. 5 days later she had tail amputation surgery as well as a few toes removed. She recovered well and is a very good mommy!
Their transport to rescue journey began last Wed with a ground transport from Portsmouth, OH to Chicago where they were temp fostered by another rescue contact and taken to the airport to meet their flight to their final destination!
Scott went out of his way to accommodate transporting this family by removing the back seat and adding weights to balance the plane. He even bought a large crate to house them! There were a few bumps in the road with weather but pilot Scott adjusted things and completed the mission!
Best Regards,
