Pilots N Paws…To The Rescue Again
A young, very pregnant, malnourished little dog, is left at a high kill shelter. The clock starts ticking the moment she arrives. The shelter is full and inevitably more dogs will be arriving. There is no room and choices have to be made. What chance does she have to survive, much less her puppies that would soon be arriving? Shelter staff all over our country have to make these heartbreaking decisions daily; pets losing their lives through no fault of their own.
For Trixie, luck was on her side. We had room to take her at NCCR. Enter Pilots N Paws, an amazing group of private pilots who save thousands of lives by transporting homeless pets to safety for people and organizations who rescue. (www.pilotsnpaws.org). Trixie and her daughters, who had now arrived, would be flying into Jamestown Airport, courtesy of Pilot Bill from Lancaster, OH. In spite of the dismal weather on Tuesday, October 22nd, Trixie and her family arrived safe and sound; thank you Bill!
Trixie and her daughters, Sunni, Snooks, Sophie & Sushi have settled into the new puppy room at NCCR and they will all be ready for adoption mid December.
While Trixie and family have a happy ending, so many others do not. If you are thinking of adding a pet to your family, please consider adopting from a Rescue or Shelter. Each pet that is adopted makes room for one more to be saved.
