4 Amazing PNP Pilots In 2 Airplanes Rescue 20 Shih Tzus, Shih Tzu mixes and Poodle Mixes, 2 Adult Potcakes, and 11 Potcake Pups From The Bahamas

DSCN8515-00133 precious souls from the Humane Society of Grand Bahama (HSGB) got rides to freedom and second chances.  Tri State Pet Rescue and some of their rescue partners including Lake Haven Animal Rescue in Michigan, and four amazing Pilots N Paws pilots in two airplanes made this rescue effort possible.  This is the second rescue trip in a month that pilots Pat and Theresa have made; we were thrilled to have Allan and Dave helping out today also.
To think this all started over a cookbook sale!  Back in September, Tri State’s founder, Jan Eaton, was on a cruise stopover in Freeport and visited  Del Sol, a shop at the harbour.  The manager of Del Sol (Siobhan Antoni Bates) happens to be an HSGB board member.  Del Sol kindly sells HSGB fundraising cookbooks in their shop and as Jan was purchasing one, she was asking about our shelter.  She and Siobhan had a conversation; Siobhan gave Jan our contact info and a wonderful new connection was made!
Today, 20 Shih Tzus, Shih Tzu mixes and Poodle mixes joined 2 adult Potcakes and 11 Potcake puppies on the two planes.  After clearing Customs in Fort Pierce, the planes then made the short flights to Melbourne where Stephanie and Doug of Tri State Pet Rescue (and other volunteers) were waiting.  After a short break they then loaded up and are en route to Georgia by ground transport.  These dogs and pups are getting the best Christmas present ever; the gift of life, thanks to so many amazing people!

Did anyone rescue the female pit who was on FB that was going to be killed by the wardens this week is not got out of Bahamas. They were looking for someone to save her. Its seems this is another place that doesn’t like pitties.

    John,

So glad to hear good work is launching from Carroll County Airport. The stories we post are submitted by pilots and others involved in the rescues. We’d love to post some of the stories that originate at KDMW – just submit them with a few photos to [email protected].

Just an observation, the Georgia shelters are high kill shelters …

  12. Jan Eaton says:

To Concerned: Our rescue is Tri State Pet Rescue and we are a no-kill, non-profit rescue. All the dogs in our system are safe and do not face euthanasia; we treat for all illnesses including parvo and heartworms. All dogs rescued by our group, including those dogs from HSGB,will be placed into carefully-screened and approved homes. I appreciate your concern.
