My Funny Valentine

Valentine CollageOur own Little Funny Valentine came to us on Valentine’s Day! Kathryn from the Austin Shelter sent us an email about an old gal (12 years) that was in their shelter and wasn’t in good shape at all.
She was not doing well in the shelter environment either. This senior lady was found as a stray and was being fed by some nearby construction workers. She is very underweight and wobbly on her legs and HW+. We looked at her picture, and there may be some collie in there and some chow, but we didn’t care! She did not deserve to stay in the shelter or die there. We decided that her name would be Valentine (close friends can call her Val) and she would come into the Freedom Collie Rescue Senior Program. She will spend her remaining years in the comfort of a foster home and receive the care she needs.A big thank you to Lori who went to the shelter and got this stinky lady cleaned up and vetted and ready for her flight. Then our angel pilot, with Pilots N Paws, Serigo (on his first Pilot N Paws mission) and his co-pilot Neil, flew from San Antonio to Austin for our precious cargo. Once she was safely on-board and enjoying first class, she flew to Liberty, where she was greeted by one of our amazing volunteers. Big shout out to the Liberty Municipal Airport, who welcomed their first Pilot n Paws flight also. We can’t thank everyone enough for helping us to pull this senior gal and get her home with Freedom Collie Rescue.

Val is one lucky girl! I’m glad she’ll have a comfortable place to live out the rest of her life. And thank you to all the pilots who give so generously of their time and resources to help these sweet creatures!
