List FBO's you have worked with please

Post by admin » Wed Apr 15, 2009 10:04 am

From the suggestion of the pilots, I have created this section of the forum for anyone to list their experiences with the FBO's they have worked with during an animal transport. Please include if they allowed animals to be walked through their lobby, if they allowed vehicles with multiple animals out on the tarmac to pick up or load, and if they offer fuel discounts, etc. Anything relevant to their procedure.

Ok Pilots, you asked for it and here it is so share your experiences please and let others know!

Thanks,
Debi

I recently went to OKV , Winchester VA. The Winchester Aviation was very helpful with letting us get the dogs to the other handlers. Forgot to ask for fuel discount. SS was $4.40.

Recent used the following FBO's while on PNP missions:

KTIX, Titusville, FL. Bristow Air Services. Very helpful. Didn't buy fuel.
KLKR, Lancaster County-Mc Whirter Field, SC. Very helpful. SS fuel.
KVVS, Connellsville, PA. Great folks.

The FBO in Montgomery Alabama, Montgomery Aviation was very helpful. They gave us 50 cents off the normal fuel prices and waived the landing fee. They allow animals in the FBO and allowed several of the vehicles from the shelter to drive on to the ramp and directly to the airplane. Have been there twice, with PnP, and would highly recommend.

The FBO in Orlando (ORL), Shelt Air, gave us discounted fuel, although it helped, it was still very expensive. They did waive the landing fee, and let us drive onto the ramp to unload 9 dogs from the aircraft.
The FBO at Tampa Executive, (VDF) Leading Edge Aviation was also very helpful. Did not buy fuel, but they did not charge us a landing fee and allowed the shelters vehicles to drive directly to the airplane

Atlantic Aviation at Burbank Airport!!!

Despite being a very active FBO with many coorporate/charter jet activities, the FBO helped load six older cats in their carriers on to a baggage cart and brought them out to the airplane. One of the rescue personnel was on crutches so the FBO opened the gate and allowed her to drive her cat on to the ramp.

A very supportive FBO and worth our business!!

BTW, this was all accomplished without a fuel purchase nor ramp fee charges!

I have flown in to KRHV Reid Hillview outside of San Jose approximately 5 times over the last two months for Pilots and Paws transports. The FBO is very animal friendly. There is a little doggie park available with doggie waste bags and a water bowl for visiting poochies. I just wanted to share that the people are exceptional and very pet friendly. Thanks, RKD
