As a foster mom and member of the North Coast Bernese Mountain Dog Club of Ohio, I am very interested that this program continues. We also have, from time to time, Berners that need to go from Cleveland/OHIO to their out-of-state forever home. I have a little Berner girl right now that might be going to Toronto/CA within the next 2 weeks.
As to rescue organizations and shelters showing so little interest, I'm almost sure that not many know of the Pilots N Paws program.
I'll definitely share this forum with other rescue organizations.

If any pilots are willing to fly to Freeport, Bahamas and transport to Ft. Lauderdale or West Palm Beach, FL, the Humane Society of Grand Bahama would be happy to participate in this.

My name is Carol Barr President of Heaven Sent Pet Rescue, Inc. in Langhorne, PA.

I have just learned of this great service as I am in need of a flight for two great chihuahuas from Pa to Wa but need this trip asap, so I can't commit to this week.

I don't know how many rescues know of your organization but I think once the word spreads folks will see what a great service this is. I personally am thankful there is a hope for my two little ones, Justice and Surrender and I know there are many other animals who deserve to have forever homes.

Your organization and pilots can make this a reality for so many rescue animals...don't be discouraged....don't give up!!! Lots of animals are counting on your persistence! Maybe even Rachael Ray would help...she has Rachael's Rescue!

I would suggest possibly contacting Best Friends Networks (outreach of Best Friends in Utah) could post for you. Possible a rescue group contact for each state could help get the word out and help coordinate. I can reach out to the Best Friends Network in Pa and see if they are receptive to the idea of posting this information although it may need to get to the Utah headquarters initially but I will try to look into the proper procedure if you would like.

I love the idea and the great service you provide! This will be a success all I think you need to do is to get the word out to the rescue community!

If I can help you with the above you can reach me at heavensentpet@aol.com or cell 215 478 4154.

I would be glad to participate in sending some of our rescue doggies in this huge effort. :) I also coordinate ground transports from Memphis TN to Parsippany or Whippany NJ. So a back up plan could be arranged as well. Thanks

Just heard about this effort. Have used Pilots and Paws, but if we are not in need of a flight-transport, I don't generally log onto the PilotsnPaws website. We are Illinois Birddog Rescue, with foster homes in Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, and other midwestern states. We rescue from all over, and adopt all over, including Canada. Once the date has been set, we would like to be a part of this effort. Is it possible to send an email to the rescue members? Or do we need to log in regularly to find out what the latest is? I'll check back periodically. I hope I don't miss it.

We are Friends of Pep Rescue in Gouldsboro Pa

....we have had 3 dogs transported under your program and would definately like to help with this endeavor.

If you have a pilot somewhere willing to help and need an animal pulled tell me where and when will do .

I greatly appreciate all your consideration of rescue animals .

From a rescuer's perspective, we'd be thrilled to help with this! The main thing we would need to know is a date. We may be able to stash some animals in foster homes for a week or maybe two. We'd be able to convince some (but not all) of the shelters to hang on to dogs for an extra couple days for us...but so many of the notices we get are "needs out now" type messages. If someone were able to coordinate which pilots are available where, and could help coordinate relay legs for long transports, we would find dogs to send. Unfortunately the rescuers would not be able to commit to numbers until VERY close to the actual date.

I'm in MN, and I see a lot of great dogs in states like GA or CA, but right now we don't have great transport options, so we can't pull from those areas. I work with two rescues that have both used PnP recently, and it was great! We had two dogs that came from NC to MN using a couple of different legs of the transport. Then we had one recently that could make it by car as far as WI, and pilot Pete jumped in to help get him to MN.

I know some people who have amazing connections in the rescue community who could get the word out. We'd just need to have a process in place so they know what to do, and a date to shoot for.

Thanks for everything you do!
