You make a good point! You should feel free to ask transporters for references, too! That seems only fair! I am like you - I can't imagine anyone putting these animals in harm's way, especially after putting in the effort, time and expense of transporting, but ugliness does rear its head up in all areas. You have every right to ask for a reference and if someone is insulted by that, then that would pt a red flag up for me!

We live on the north end of Houston, TX. If your transport came this way for any reason, perhaps we could help with a leg. And, yes, I am willing to give you references!

Oh! Diane, how sweet of you to offer some assistance. Gosh, I don't know what to say!!!!! Thank you!! The most difficult part of the scheduling is contacting 2 pilots that could work the trip in conjunction with one another. It is a straight line from Birmingham to Lawton, Oklahoma, but it is also a 600 mile junket. It looks fairly simple by air, but that is a long trip for anyone. I was hoping to get 2 pilots willing to work together to make the trip. One of your pilots made that suggestion to me and plotted the route for me. It was a tremendous help, because I knew what to expect. It is a tall order for an 11 lb. dog. She is worth it though! Could you give me some idea about the flying time for such a trip? I am, somewhat, nervous about it. It is just hard to conceive a small plane going those distances.

Thank you again for your kindness and generosity. I don't know that you can really help with this one, but I will never forget that you have offered. I just can't get over it!! I have made a new friend today and that in itself, is very rewarding. Hope I am in a position to help you sometime.

All, it is fabulous to see you working and helping each other but it's also important to keep the forum board in order with over 11K members now. Amazing how much we have grown and continue to expand our efforts!

I would like to request that you please move your conversation to the Ride Board, I assume you have posted your request there Sharon? If not, it's the best way to reach pilots along the entire route needed and Diane can respond to you and others who might also volunteer. Just easier to stay on the same page that way. Thank you for all you do for the animals and thank you Diane for your continued generosity to get these babies where they need to go.

This is a great time to point out the FAQ section on the upper right of each page. Most if not all of members questions can be answered there. The plane icon with the worrd Pilots next to it pertains more to pilots questions and answers. The lifering with Rescue next to it explains how things work. Please read them over and make your request to the ride board. Hopefully, pilots will be able to work togehter to help you.

I have rescued previously, but I am not a non profit rescue... I am looking for transport help from wyoming to michigan to give a lovely cat caught up in a shelter for more than a year a great home with 3 other cats. If I was to do this trip on my own I would have to drive and be out of work for 4 days but hopefully someone can help and make this happen in a day with no one missing work because of it! I hope so, I would hate to be excluded just because of scandalous people.

I am a grassroots rescuer. I coordinate with other like-minded people who are very careful about who we deal with. Sad to say, there are always going to be people who take advantage; even those who have the paperwork to "prove" they are legit, are occasionally found wanting. I really hope this doesn't result in all grassroots rescuers being ruled out. Some of us are very experienced and very careful and have very legitimate cases we need help with. Many of you might remember the heavy metal band Quiet Riot. The drummer, Frankie Banali, is engaged to a lady named Regina Russell, who is directing and producing a film about the band right now. Despite her very busy schedule, she is also very much involved in rescuing animals from shelters around the City of Los Angeles. Check out her Facebook page and you will see. I am currently fostering two kittens she brought to me from the City shelter in South L.A. She personally makes sure each animal has shots, is fixed and gets vetted. I have the papers for both babies to prove it. She has friends all over the country and all over the world who have adopted animals she has posted on her facebook page. I recommended your organization to her, as a way of getting rescued pets to good people who want to adopt them. I am also volunteering to foster animals in the Los Angeles area who are in transit with the Pilots n Paws organization, and need emergency temporary shelter if the need arises. There are a lot of less-than-lovely people out there but there's also a lot of people who are wonderful, I am writing this in hopes that all of you fine people will please try to keep an open mind for their sake and the sake of the animals they are working to save. There is room for all dedicated rescue volunteers. We have quidelines in place which means exactly that, a guide. I too, know of very reputable rescue volunteers who support the animals in a very positive and well cared for manner.

Pilots N Paws leaves every decision to make a flight, or not, in the pilots hands. They are the only people in our opinion who know when they can fly, what conditions, etc. We encourage all pilots to really talk with the rescue groups, click on the link for the USDA requirments for the state they are flying too, and find out as much as possible about who they are working with. Rescues need to cooperate fully, this is a huge gift that pilots are giving, and though they will thank you endlessly for pulling these animals, getting proper medical care, etc., you wouldn't have an option to fly them if not for pilots volunteering so we want everyone to have a positive experience. Positive experience is usually the norm, but there have been rescues who have brought filthy, tick invested dogs to a plane for transport. That should never happen and the pilots have the right to refuse the flight.

Requests MUST be posted to the Ride Board each and every time in order for pilots to be able to use our 501c3 status. This means that even if you work with a pilot repeatedly, please put forth the effort to post on the board and mark your post DONE when the flight has been completed.

Working responsibly together allows us all to help more animals who need us. Hopefully, the members registered with Pilots N Paws will do their best to make sure the process goes smoothly. Thanks for all you do!

You can make your request for assistance on the ride board if this is a rescue dog. It is always up to the pilots to decide if this is a trip they are willing to do dependent upon the circumstances. Pilots are always in charge!

However, this particular request for transport from Texas to Rockford is beyond what one small plane pilot can accomplish and you don't say "where" in Texas? Unlikely that two pilots would be able to make this distance for you but if you can shorten it in some manner your chances of finding a volunteer pilot to help will increase.
