Additional info/situation:

Lumberjack Rescue of Springhill was forced to move its 40+ rescue dogs from their facility to temporary foster homes, in response to a complaint filed by not-so-animal-friendly neighbors. All dogs are safe at this time, but the need to move them to more permanent homes is urgent.

Pat Bayers of Labrador Retriever Rescue of Florida has agreed to take Rebel and Claiborne. They are a bonded pair, brother and sister duo, who should travel well together. She has suggested we fly into BKV, although Tampa Bay Executive is also nearby. She has heard, though, that the latter might charge a landing fee and is basically more expensive. The airport at Springhill (SPH) has passed "muster" with PnP pilot Jim Carney, so don't think the pickup there will be a problem.

Due to their adult size and heft, it might be better to plan on tethering these 2 in the backseat or cargo area of the airplane. A crate(s) for these 2 would take up an inordinate amount of room, but I will leave that up to the pilots and their own individual airplane configuration.

Dogs are ready to go now. They only need to get their health certificates once the departure date is firm and draws near.

We are open to suggestions as to route and number of legs needed to accomplish this "mission." Feel free to call me at 337-837-5930 or email me at [email protected].

We have another trip posted to the PnP Request board from Springhill to FL: http://www.pilotsnpaws.org/forum/viewto ... =5&t=27645
Due to the number and size of these pups, it might not be possible to combine these 2 trips, but wanted all to be aware of both requests. I'm told the 2 receiving rescues are about an hour and one-half away from each other by ground.

Thanks to Sonny Davenport of Madison, MS, for flying to Springhill this a.m. to pick up Rebel and Claiborne. He took them back to Madison with him, where the new foster-to-adopt "daddy" was waiting to take possession of the 2 Labs. He had driven straight thru from Florida yesterday and spent the night in Jackson to rest. Upon Sonny's arrival back in Madison around noon, Jerry picked up his precious cargo, loaded them in his truck, and headed back home to Florida.

This short trip for Sonny knocked about 5 hours off Jerry's trip and he was most appreciative. The dogs took to flying as if they had been born to it, even trying to hop up into Sonny's plane. Their new home has a swimming pool in the backyard, so it will be interesting to see how they take to that! Odds are, they will love it.

Thanks to all for making this happen. LRR of FL's Pat Bayers is a great matchmaker!
