Mid-Atlantic Basset Hound Rescue, in conjunction with several other basset rescues, was able to help save 11 of 14 basset puppies from continuing a future of misery in puppy mills. The joint effort at a recent auction in Missouri enabled these dogs to be placed into rescues, who worked together to ensure a happy ending for them.
Assistance in ground transport from Missouri to Ohio was done by serviceman Kyle Blackmon, who was going on leave to return home to Minerva, OH, where one of the puppies would be taken in by Tri-County SPCA's Maribeth Walker. Kyle drove an hour out of his way to pick up five puppies, one of whom was delivered in St. Louis to a rescue, and the other four came up to Maribeth.
Pilot Luke Hayden graciously offered to pick up the three puppies in Ohio that were coming out to Mid-Atlantic Basset Hound Rescue and deliver them to their president, Suzanne Fitch, at West Trenton-Mercer Airport. Luke is our hero for helping to ensure the safe delivery of this precious cargo this past Sunday. THANK YOU ALL!!!
