DONE -The Whiskers Project is trying to find transportation for two cats to get to their loving forever home in Cape Cod. They are in Murphy, NC and we can transport to a pilot in driving distance to atlanta, chattanoogna, knoxville, asheville, charlotte, maybe dc area or virginia. The two cats are adult females, clara and ashley, were throwaways that were rescued and fostered. you can see them on our site, http://www.whiskersproject.petfinder.com. Please help us help cats! They will be adminstered "Rescue Remedy" prior to flight. Thank you, Victoria @ wp., 1-888-872-9330 or [email protected] [map:28906-02601]

If you can get them close to DC area or the eastern shore of MD (I'm based in MD) I can take them the rest of the way weather permitting next weekend.

A possible Plan B for you, in case you can't get the cats to Steve next weekend. We are in the process of trying to organize a marathon transport from FL to NJ. (See "marathon florida to phila pa or atlantic city nj".) Right now, it is scheduled to happen on 3/7. There will be handoffs at Lumberton, NC and Chesapeake, VA. (I am scheduled to fly the Chesapeake, VA to PA/NJ leg.) So, if you can get the cats to either of these places, perhaps the cats can hitch a ride on this transport.

There is one catch. I can get them as far north as Caldwell, NJ (KCDW). But you will have to find someone (perhaps one of the NY/NJ based pilots) to take them the rest of the way. And given the timing of the FL-NJ transport, the cats will arrive in NJ in the evening (probably 8 or 9 pm), so you will have to find a temporary foster in NJ overnight (or longer depending on pilot availability or weather).

Anyway, thought I would offer possible options.

-DONE thks for suggesting another option on the fla- nj- lumberton would be perfect to pick up the cats but not sure about coordinating the last leg. steve did tell us the weather doesnt look good for flying out of his area next weekend. the foster mom is going to let me know if she is driving today. she hates to drive 10 hrs to deliver the cats and the plane remains gounded for bad weather- as i told steve- your group is amazing and thank you for helping animals in need. i will check the second leg if she doesnt drive. right now i will keep it in mind and cancel posting if need be. thks victoria @ wp
