Additional Info/situation:SENIORs GETTING A SECOND CHANCE!!!!! Little guy, Leo, was turned into the shelter by a woman fleeing a domestic abuse situation-the husband said he would kill the dog if he was left in the house. No rescue has room here, including my own, but a great one I have worked with in Arkansas has stepped up and made room for him. He is sweet, shy, and ready to find a new and peaceful home during his golden years! I can go to any airport in the Austin Area (Georgetown, Waco, etc.) and on the Arkansas end she is flexible if Texkarkana might not work. The little girl is from a high kill shelter and there is still no room here but Mary said she could give her a second chance too! Any help would be much, much, much appreciated!

I replied on your original thread. I could probably take the trip to Texarkana with weather / rentals / etc. cooperating. I'd much prefer to split the trip with someone, otherwise it's close to 6 hours of flights + rental for me alone. Straight line KAUS to KTXK us 271NM. I'd be happy to do the first ~150nm of that without question, putting me near Athens. Doing the whole trip would be stretching my flying budget for this month and I'm saving up for IR =)

edit: Was just thinking, the eastern Dallas area is almost halfway as well, even if the overall trip is longer. Lots of GA pilots in that area, may have some luck splitting it there.

Hi,

I am based in Addison, Texas (DFW) and if you could get the dogs to Mesquite, TX, I can take them the rest of the way. How about Saturday or Sunday.

I could definitely get them to KHQZ. I have no experience flying in the DFW airspace, though, so any tips would be appreciated.

As far as scheduling, this weekend looks terrible for getting a plane.

I could definitely do it next Saturday, 6/30 though. I went ahead and booked a plane in the afternoon on 6/30 (first available time). I can always cancel, just let me know. I'd be able to arrive to KHQZ around 3pm, assuming everyone's running on schedule.

Saturday - 30 June would work for me assuming the weather is OK.

Mesquite (KHQZ) is underneath the Class B (4000' floor) on the east side of DFW. Don't need to call approach unless you want to and they have the cheapest fuel in the area.

Seems like we have a plan. I'm VFR only, so certainly weather dependent as well.

My cell is 630.464.7706, leave a message if I don't answer (I often let unknown numbers go to voicemail then check right away).

Give me a ring when you have a chance Angela, also please post here to confirm we're good for 6/30. Hopefully we'll see you on the 30th John.

Saturday - 30 June is fine. At what time would you arrive at Mesquite.

Will the dog be coming in its own crate?

Who is the receiving party and what is their contact cell number?

I'm flying a 172 from KAUS, figuring no wind and 100 kts (it cruises a bit faster) it's about 1:40 in the air, so maybe ~3:15pm if I get off around 1:30pm (time for preflight, sequencing, etc.)

I still haven't heard from the requestor about coordinating getting the dogs on Saturday. I need to know about crates as well, as I have none.

I've emailed and called Angela at the number above 6/26, and heard nothing back. Granted, my call was rather late, around 8PM CDT so if it's a work number I wouldn't expect to hear anything until 6/27.

Sorry everyone, I've been out of commission for several days due to a combination of a wet tile floor, a mop, and several dogs (flat on my back and on pain pills!). The dogs are safe and another transport offer came in. I am so sorry, I did not have someone post that for me. Thank you for your offers, it was greatly, greatly, greatly appreciated!
