Hi this is Virginia. I'm the one who found Sweetie on the streets. Hers is a sad story but thanks to friends, San Antonio Street Saves (SASS) n most of all Linda, her anxiously waiting Mommy, Sweetie will have a forever home soon. I heard from a coworker there was a skinny female stray that appeared pregnant that had been hanging around the dead end street where she works. And on top of this she also was limping on her right front leg. Most likely been had been hit by a car. :-( I work in another building on the next street over. Then one day San Antonio received a freezing and wet storm she was spotted again but laying on the road. The coworker thought she had died but she was having her babies right their on the road. A few days later the coworker spotted her again but no babies. The thought was they didn't survive the storm or maybe Sweetie wasn't healthy enough. Plus she had that broken leg and couldn't carry them to safety. This is when the coworker informed me about her. That very day I went looking for her after work. I saw her. Sad thin looking dog. Limping along looking for food. I left food n water for her every day after work n on weekends would visit her twice. The co worker would feed her in the mornings. I would visit her every day so I could gain her trust but she was so scared. She was walking up n down a busy street so when i would try n get close to her she would go towards the street so i would back off. Then i found SASS who supported n encouraged me on how to rescue her. Somehow she found her way on the inside of a fenced day care property. Then one Friday with the help of the coworker I grabbed her n took her to the vet. I was crying as he examined her, praying she would be alright. Yes her leg had been fractured - bad. But it was healing. She would need to rest it for at least a month. But she would be alright!!! I had her spayed and had all her shots and microchipped her. During this time, SASS found Linda who eagerly wanted her. Linda went out n bought her memory foam bed n all kinds of goodies for her. Sweetie is a wonderful dog. Despite all she has been through, she kissed and waged her tail when I would see her every day after work while she was recovering at the vets. You would hardly recognize her. In the beginning her tail tucked under her hind legs walking slowly limping. But now she can't stop wagging her tail and giving kisses why she sees you. I hope someone takes Sweetie home to Linda who is waiting for her in Indiana. I will attempt to post a picture of her when I first saw her n then one of her after she was saved off the street. God bless you folks. I hope Sweetie is home with Linda by Christmas. But no matter the wait, I know Sweetie will be home with her mommy soon. :-)

That is an awesome and inspiring story, that is why you rescuers go above and beyond the call of duty; i am glad that she made it to you Linda or will pretty soon, She has a better chance at life now because of a handful of big hearted people; i love reading endings like this. Good luck Linda with her and God Bless :D :plane:

Flying Trucker, still trying to get her here, each day that passes and no positive response at getting her here, my heart sinks a little lower. An, unfortunately on top ofy Ptsd, this time of year is extra hard at being alone, and just adds to the "downs" as I like to call them. My Mom, passed away at this time of year,5 days after christmas, a couple years back, an well, makes Christime just that much harder and sadder for me. I'm praying harder and harder each day that "Sweetie" will be here soon. :(
