I see fuel at VKS is $5.17 FS, while it's $6.09 FS at HKS. At LVJ, my home field, it's $5.95 SS. I see at 3F3, it's $4.50 SS. I'll likely fly there on less than full, and squeeze in every drop I can.

I'm sure we'll get the contact details from Julie shortly. The ground pickup already agreed to meet at VKS. In my experience, non-towered airports are easier for them, too.

FWIW: I'll likely just tether the old boy to a rear seat belt. I'll see, when he arrives at LVJ. A medium crate would work, if he seems more comfortable. Do you have access to one?

My last post didn't appear, so:

VKS should be fine. The ground pickup already agreed to Vicksburg, and, in my experience, uncontrolled airports are easier for the ground folks, too. If they call in advance and check in early, they can often pull vehicles right up to the plane on the ramp for the transfer.

Avgas is cheaper, too, at VKS, compared to HKS. I've flown in there before; nice field, nice facilities.

FWIW: I'm planning to fly the boy on a tether secured to a rear seat belt, but I won't know for sure until he arrives. If it seems as if he'll be more comfortable and secure, I'll crate him in a medium crate. Do you have one/access to one?

Chris: the CTAF protocol at some uncontrolled fields sometimes flummoxes me. On CTAF, do y'all announce "Mansfield Traffic," Williams Traffic," or "Rusty Williams Traffic"?

I use " Williams" but "Mansfield" works just as well.

I was planning on sending a medium crate. Not needed? Any idea what time we are leaving Austin? He is boarded at vet out in Bee Cave (just west of Austin) and they do not open until 9. If he is going out of exec. airport it will take me a little while to get there. It would be really hard for me to have him at my house the night before because of my rotten, aggressive old terriers.

I've got a crate.
