FILLED (ground trans) Min Pins DLS/Ft W 75230 to MN 55075

Post by MonteMayhem » Mon Nov 16, 2009 4:05 pm

Lone Star Miniature Pinscher Rescue in the Dallas/Ft Worth, TX area has been shut down and Internet Miniature Pinscher Services is trying to take as many of the 97 Min Pins as our foster homes throughout the country can take. We need to get 15-20 Miniature Pinschers (8lbs to 20lbs each) from TX to MN. The dogs should be released through the courts this Wendesday (11/18) and we're ready to go as soon as they are.

Can Anybody Help? I used the map route request and their are lots of pilots along the route :) which is good, but will take some coordination which I am happy to do!!

Thanks, Heather Arambel, WY IMPS Co-Regional Coordinator

Kim,

I may be able to talk the husband into bringing the min pins to Colorado Springs and then I can carry them to Minneapolis.

Let me know if this is an option.

Is this request still active? if so, I could take several into Fleming. My range would be a two hour flight from Fleming.

Yes this is still active!!

Laura - How many miles away does two hours get you and is that 2 hours one way (for a round trip of 4 hours?) Also, how many dogs could you transport at once? I could try to find other pilots to get the dogs into your range.

Sarah - It's Heather in WY here helping Kim Wolff in MN and Katherine Harlan in TX out with these postings. We have around 20 dogs to get from TX to MN. If your husband was willing to bring one or two of the smallest with him to CO Springs and then they could go with you to Minneapolis, then that would be chipping away at the transport need :) When are both of your upcoming flights?

Thanks ladies!!!!

Hi-

I'm based in Rochester MN and can take the northern leg, as far south as mid Kansas or Missouri. I have a Baron that can hold 3 large kennels (we have Irish Setters, about 60 lbs each). Let me know if I can help.

Don,

Thanks so much for the reply! We're all trying to figure out the best transport method, route etc. Don't suppose if we got them to your area that you could actrually fly a couple north instead? We're just waying our options and we have volunteers in Canada willing to foster a few....realize you couldnt' go that far north, but we'd be willing to drive or try to find additional flight legs then. Just some thoughts I guess. Let me know what you think.

Thanks so much,

Heather

2 hours gets me to the Dubuque, IA area. I'm flying a C182 which will hold one large crate, so however many dogs could comfortably live together in that size crate is what I could take.

Don - Could you make it to the KSC area to meet up with Sarah?

Sarah - How far south can you travel and how many crates/lbs can you carry?

Thanks!!

Heather

Not a problem.

I have 3 large crates that I use for our Setters. I take the 2nd and 3rd rows of passenger seats out. The crates are roughly 18" wide, 24" tall and 36" long. Weight should not be a problem, I can haul about 1200 lbs of puppies.

Whatever we could do to put multiple dogs per crate would be the limiting factor.

It would be only be an hour an a half flight from KS to MSP.

I'm a commercial pilot, and my Baron is certified IFR and Ice, so we can usually fly in crummy weather. Kansas is no problem at all, I'm pretty open on flights (for once) for the next couple of weeks.
