Ridgeback needs transport from TX to home in Indiana

Post by CeliaRobinson » Mon Apr 12, 2010 3:19 pm

Lacy, a young Rhodesian Ridgeback female, needs transport from the Kilgore, TX area to her forever home in Lawrenceburg, IN. For departure, the current foster mom can meet a pilot at any area airport or as far away as Dallas or Shreveport, LA. For the destination, the closest airports are in Cincinnati, OH. This trip will probably need to be done in legs such as East TX to Tulsa, OK, Tulsa to Kansas City, MO, Kansas City to St. Louis, MO, and St. Louis to Cincinnati, OH. This planner is open to suggestions for the route. We would like to get Lacy to her new home by 4/19/10. Lacy weighs 60 pounds, and she can ride in a large crate. Please email or call if you can help Lacy reach her new home.

Thank you for all you do to help rescue animals!

I would suggest the following routing:

Leg 1: East Texas Regional (KGGG) - Stuttgart, AR (KSGT)
Leg 2: Stuttgart, AR (KSGT) - Sturgis, KY (KTWT)
Leg 3: Sturgis, KY (KTWT) - Cincinnati West, OH (I67)

I could do Leg 3 the 17th, 18th, 19th, or 20th, weather permitting.

I am home based in Rogers, AR KROG.
I may be able to provide a leg depending upon the day.
If you decide upon a Tulsa Route I could go from Tulsa to KC

I will take him all the way to Dayton tomorrow. I am based at KGPM and have a Mooney 201. I already have a harness for Lacy and would be glad to take her.

Thank you Russell Fletcher! I will bring Lacy to Grand Prairie Municipal airport tomorrow morning (4/16/10) for her flight to Dayton, OH. Her adoptive family will pick her up in Dayton. Many thanks for all the other offers of help!

Celia,

Lacy and I made the trip today and she did great. I got one or two pictures while flying to Dayton. I will post them soon. Perry was very glad to get Lacy when we arrived. I was so happy to be a part of this transport, thanks to you and Perry. You two made it a great experience.

Lacy did great on the flight, laying down most fo the way and up and active and resting her head on our shoulders and giving us the occasional lick on the head for good measure for the last two hours. All in all the flight took around five hours, and the weather turned out to be fine, but turned stormy about an hour after we landed.

I will post the pictures when I get back and email them to you as well. Perry got a good one of Lacy and me by the plane right after we landed. Maybe we can post that one too.

Russell
