Mt. Juliet TN (Near Nashville) to Balt/DC Area

Smokey is a beautiful purebred 2 y/o GSD who spent his entire life in a 6'x10' pen and turned into a kill shelter by his former owner when the house was foreclosed upon. He was less than 24 hours away from being euthanized due to behavior issues (he is unsocialized, fearful) when Mid-Atlantic GSD Rescue (http://www.magsr.org) committed to helping him. He will be going directly to a MAGSR-affiliated trainer who works with GSDs and other dogs like him for rehab before MAGSR makes him available for adoption. Smokey (who will be known by "Santana" at MAGSR) was evaluated by a dog behavior specialist in TN and is rehab-able and we want to give this guy a chance. Due to concerns about how he might react to different people/vehicles on a ground transport (flee/fight?) he must be crated for the duration of transport for his safety as well as others. We are looking to PnP for assistance as it is felt by the sending A/C officer that flight will be less stressful for him than multi-stage/multi-vehicle ground transport. The trainer who will be working with Smokey/Santana is in Woodbine, MD and closest to airstrips in Frederick or Carroll County MD. There is a MAGSR volunteer (my husband :)) who will transport Smokey/Santana from whichever airport a pilot can transport him to (Northern VA/Annapolis are also fine and do-able) directly to the trainer.

Smokey is being neutered on 9/3/09 and needs to be out of the shelter by 9/9/09: if he could have waited longer we would have posted him on the PnP 5000 board as he definately meets that criteria. He will have all vaccines and health cert. If need be he can be medicated for flight.

Thanks in advance,

Sue

No longer needed. I'll post in "Done" section. A/C in Mt. Juliet had to move him today due to lack of available space but the good news is local trainer will work with him.
