Updating Pilot Map

Post by jlspence » Tue Apr 19, 2011 2:10 pm

I noticed when trying to help a rescuer find PnP pilots that the pilot mapping doesn't seem to have been updated in the last 8-9 months. Two of the most active PnP pilots in the north alabama/central tennessee region (myself and Skyhawk599 don't even show up on the map despite the fact that we've been flying since July 2010 or before. I also notice that pilots are listed on there that have never even posted to the board to make a rescue flight and haven't even visited the site in more than 2 years. I'm not criticizing anyone...just making an observation. If I can help in some way, let me know.

Steve,

Perhaps this will help. What I mean is, for example, when I go to this transport request that is local:

http://www.pilotsnpaws.org/forum/viewto ... =5&t=11814

And above the request when I click either "Map This Request" or "Other Mapping Options" I get maps with airplanes on them representing PnP Pilots. These maps are not up to date.

However, I was just reading another thread (link below) where there is another link that has a map that is up to date.

Updated Map link: http://www.pilotsnpaws.org/forum/phpbb-map.php

Can you update the links for "Map This Request" and "Other Mapping Options" to show the up to date pilot map?

This one took a while to track down. This is another one where google is "helping".

If you look at the 'map this request' link (it's gone, but you cab click here):

http://maps.google.com/maps?q=http://ww ... 3580134201

And zoom in on your airport, it shows kuehltha , but at the bottom right of the balloon, there a link that reads '*
"1 of 2 nearby results « Next". If you click on that, your info shows up.

The maps worked when I first set them up, and are being fed with up to date information. Unfortunately, google has changed the way the maps work, and the whole thing needs to be overhauled to get back to the base functionality.
