WOLF HYBRID...associated issues due to wild/domestic mixture

Post by The Wolf Adventure » Thu Oct 25, 2012 7:08 pm

Hi. We have a Wolf Hybrid desperately needing transportation from Medicine Lodge Kansas. He is currently chained and being used for breeding..something our rescue is desperate to stop. The owner has agreed to give him to us if we can get him here (zip..03045). Our problem is that we have no domestic shelter/rescue to quarantine him for 10 days because of his mixed status. (domestic agencies are forbidden to take in wild animals (even if only half wild) Therefore would it be possible to have him flown to a nearby state that would allow us to take immediate possession? Quarantine would be severely traumatic to the wild /wolf side of this breed. I anxiously await your reply...Deb

Deb, this is indeed a very sad life for this hybrid. That being said, your zip code is in NH and they have very strict laws regarding import of any animals into the state. Please refer to these two links for further information.

The distance you are requiring is also beyond what one or even two pilots can accomplish. As always, it is up to each individual pilot, sender and receiver to investigate each situation and to stay informed about regulations of various states by using the USDA link we provide throughout this website under Guidelines. You can also google state vet or state ag department for any updates that may not have been posted on the USDA site as yet. Perhaps there is someone more local to the area who you can work with on setting this boy free from chains? Hope you can help him and thank you for trying.
