Additional Info/situation:

Stella is a sweet Plott Hound that's been at the Paris shelter way too long. She was scheduled to be put down for being there too long, but we begged, they gave us extra time to find a place for her, and we succeeded. She's going to the San Antonio SPCA.

Stella has a ride from Paris to Austin on Sunday with the sister of a shelter volunteer. That almost gets us there, but not quite. I've been seeking ground transport to cover the gap without success. I can't let Stella come south until she can go all the way, so we're seeking your help. Stella can be transferred at any airport from GTU to AUS. It's about a 50 minute flight, one way. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the weather co-operates.

There's also a possibility that we'll have another hound to add to the passenger list. Buford, a Black & Tan Coonhound, was found wandering the streets of Round Rock. Since his original adopter gave him away and can't tell us to whom, we've put up signs and are hoping he'll come to claim Buford this week. If he does not, Buford will need to go back to San Antonio to the rescue group that had him originally. Pretty iffy at this point.

Thank you for helping the homeless animals!

Hi Jerry.

I'd love to help if I can. When on Sunday will she be at Austin?

Thank you for your offer!

At this point Stella's arrival time in Austin is pretty much up to you and your schedule. If Carla's sister were not bringing a dog she would probably not leave Paris until after lunch, putting her here perhaps as late as 18:00, but she's very willing to adjust her schedule to accommodate the need to get Stella to Boerne. What works best for you?

I still don't know whether we'll need to move Buford, too. If we do, do you think you'll have room for two? Buford will need to be crated.

I'm only in a 172 and the hounds I've flown for you before usually take up the whole back seat just for one of them. I think one was a plott hound. Not sure if I'd have room for two, really, and I certainly don't have a crate.

I am busy from 3pm to ~6pm that day, so I'd either have be done before 3 or make it an evening flight after 6 some time. Let me check rental availability and see if I can at least take care of Stella for you.

Plans have changed. It looks like Buford is NOT going this weekend, so it will only be Stella.

While it's not impossible for Carla's sister to get here in time for you to do the whole round trip and make it to your 15:00 appointment, it will certainly be difficult. If you're willing to make it an evening flight, and an aircraft is available, that would be ideal.

Will you have someone with you to help manage Stella? She's very friendly and full of energy, so you don't want her uncrated unless you have someone with you or can somehow tie her leash to a secure place in the rear that keeps her from coming forward. She does not have a pilot's license and would be a lousy co-pilot.

I wish I had a crate that fit. I'll only be able to fly if I can bring someone with. Waiting to get in touch with him to find his schedule. There's a plane open in the evening that day, a 172. I need to find a crate that fits to make these flights easier =) I'll let you know as soon as I know.

Jerry,

I'm good to help on Sunday. Have another person coming with me and a plane starting at 7pm till however late we need. If I meet the person at the airport at 7pm, I could be wheels up by 7:30ish and to Boerne no later than 8:30, I would expect not knowing winds and things right now.

Pretty sure you have my email/phone, feel free to arrange there with the other parties involved.

Stella was a great passenger. She's a sweet dog and I know she'll make someone happy. I delivered her at approximately 21:30 on 3/17 at Boerne (5C1).

Special thanks to Alex! The ground transport ahead of him was greatly delayed, but he was patient, and Stella is now with San Antonio SPCA.

Another hound saved! Good work!
