Post by agilitycairn » Sun Jun 30, 2013 9:16 pm

Number of animals being transported: 1
Breeds, weight, age: Cairn Terrier, 12 lbs, 9 years old
Health Condition: Excellent
Heart worm Status: Negative for heartworm
Vaccinations: Completed UTD on rabies, distemper-parvo
Health Certificate: To be issued prior to departure
Spay/Neutered: Yes
Special needs: Retired mill girl who is very shy; crates extremely well
Name of Sending Rescue/Parties Shell Lewis - Cairn Rescue USA
Name of Receiving Rescue/Parties: Paul and Donna Marquis, adopting family
Contact information (publicly viewable on forum): [email protected]
Are you a 501c3: Yes
Additional Info/situation: "Lucy" is a darling, small Cairn Terrier who spent the first 8 years of her life as a brood bitch in a puppymill. Now she has an opportunity to be adopted by a wonderful family who has gone through our approval process, including a home inspection. Lucy crates beautifully and is very quiet. She has never barked. She would travel in a "200 size" medium crate. Ideally, we would like to send her to Portland but we would be grateful to get her within 2 hours of Portland.

Can you explain why you joined PnP in 2008, last visited in 2009, and just now have made your first post?

Reason I ask is, these are things I look at when considering volunteering for a mission.

Thanks.

Hello, Rich. Happy to reply. I'm the Midwest Adoptions Director for a 501c3 cairn rescue group, "Cairn Rescue USA". I handle adoptions in the Midwestern states and while I frequently adopt my dogs out of state, they usually stay within the Midwest (and within driving distance for the adopting family). I joined P&P several years ago, as you noted, so that I could use it as a resource if needed. But there really hasn't been a need. Also, we're fortunate to have, among our volunteer ranks, a flight attendant who will occasionally fly dogs on his day off. But he is not available at this time.

Hope this is helpful and please don't hesitate to let me know if I can provide additional information. Greatly appreciate you considering!

Hi,
If you can get the dog as far as KOXC, Waterbury Oxford, CT, I can fly her into the Boston or southern NH area.
