Hounds going from shelter to rescue on Sunday

Post by jdunham » Sat Nov 30, 2013 12:42 am

Number of animals being transported: 4 or 2
Breeds, weight, age: 4 coonhound bitches, average weight 55 pounds, all adults
Health Condition: Healthy
Heart worm Status: Not sure
Vaccinations: UTD
Health Certificate: Provided
Spay/Neutered: Yes
Special needs: No
Name of Sending Rescue/Parties: Sabine Humane Society
Name of Receiving Rescue/Parties: Country Hearts Hound Rescue and San Antonio SPCA
Contact information (publicly viewable on forum): Jerry Dunham, [email protected], 512-961-8398
Are you a 501c3: Yes.
Additional Info/situation:

There are four long-stay coonhounds in the Sabine shelter in Many, LA, that are only still alive because they knew we were working on places for them. Now that they have a place to go we need to get them out so that the shelter doesn't have to kill other dogs for space. Spot and Kelsie are going to Country Hearts in Houston, while Nelly and Lady Gaga are going to San Antonio SPCA.

If we can get all four from Many to Houston on Sunday morning, we have a driver willing to drive the San Antonio pair on to their destination on Sunday afternoon. If there is only room for two, we'll take advantage of the waiting driver to get the San Antonio pair moved, and work on moving the other two to Houston during the week, probably on Wednesday.

Last I looked, it looked like the weather is going to co-operate for Sunday. I hope we can take advantage of it!

Thank you for all you do for the homeless animals!

I might be able to take this transport flight.
Will the dogs be in carriers?

Rob, can you take all 4 dogs? If not, I can take 2 of them if you want to split the load.

I would have to leave Pearland at the butt-crack of dawn - 6:30 at the latest, putting me in Many by 8:00 and back to Pearland no later than 10.

Give me a shout if this sounds workable.

I can take all four depending on the size of the carriers. What are their dimensions?

We have success! 4 hounds are now out of the shelter in Louisiana and in rescue groups in Texas. Two went to Houston, and two to San Antonio.

Many thanks (and we mean that two ways, since these hounds came out of the shelter in Many, LA) to Tom and Rob for getting up at a ridiculously early hour to retrieve these girls. Many is so far off the beaten path that ground transport is next to impossible to find.

Another Pilots N Paws success!
