Additional Info/situation:

This is Part II of "Scotch's" journey to his new home in Arizona. The weather didn't cooperate this past Saturday, so he only made it as far as New Iberia, LA. He is a great "airplane" passenger--he curls up into a ball and sleeps the entire way. He is rested now and ready to go.

We are shooting for this Sunday, 02/09, to get him as far as Las Cruces, NM. So far, we have him all the way, except for the Midland to Las Cruces leg. The Las Cruces pilot will go to Midland to get him, but then I would need to find another pilot to do the Las Cruces to Phoenix/Mesa leg and I worry that one will be hard to fill. Here's what we have so far:

New Iberia to Houston Southwest -- Julian Sanchez

Houston Southwest to Midland, TX -- Norman Harris

Midland to Las Cruces, NM -- NEED DESPERATELY!!

Overnight a day or two, then:

Las Cruces to Mesa, AZ -- Ralph Scargall

Mesa to Lake Havasu City, AZ -- Bob Warren

We have to get Scotch to Bob Warren prior to Tuesday, 02/11, as he is leaving on a trip and will be gone for 10 days. Weather for Sunday is projected to be excellent so we feel confident Scotch can get to Las Cruces without any hitches.

Starting all over. We got fogged in at Houston yesterday (02/09) and trip literally never got off the ground!! Scotch is still in Louisiana.

We are trying once again for Saturday, 02/15, to begin the 2-day journey. Would like to get Scotch on over to Houston to board a night or two so that he will already be there in case departure is delayed again. This will knock off 2 hours from his trip by not having to originate in New Iberia. The critical part is getting him from Midland/Odessa to Las Cruces so that pilots won't have to fly over the mountains after dark. Eliminating 2 hours should help with this last leg of Day One.

I have everything worked out but am waiting on Midland pilot to verify he can fly and a pilot to get Scotch to Houston one day this week.

Paws crossed!!

I know this is late notice, but we're flying from Conroe (just north of Houston) to Lubbock on Saturday, Feb. 15. Would love it if this guy could tag along. But that would mean something waiting for him in Lubbock. But wanted to throw it out there, just in case!

We have the room to take larger dogs.
We can travel as far as 350 miles (one way) from our airport in Newcastle, Wyoming (KECS) for transports.

Thanks, Diane, but don't think that would help.

We've got it all set up now, if weather will cooperate this time. Scotch should be in his new "digs" by Sunday afternoon.

Here is the lineup for Saturday (2/15) and Sunday (2/16):

DAY 1 --

New Iberia to Houston Southwest -- Leonard Guidry

Houston Southwest to Midland -- Norman Harris

Overnight in Midland with Kerry Fender.

DAY 2 --

Midland to Las Cruces -- Kerry Fender

Las Cruces to Phoenix -- Robert Scargall

Phoenix to Lake Havasu City -- Jerry Kapp

Thanks to all who have "hung in there" with us. Third time should be the charm!!

SCOTCH IS HOME!!! Believe it or not, he arrived in Lake Havasu City, AZ, this afternoon about 3:30 Mountain Time. His owner, Valerie, was there to meet him and was so excited and relieved to actually put her hands on him.

It has been a long ordeal in getting Scotch to his new "digs." Seven pilots actually completed the trip over the 2-week period it took to get him there.
Eleven actually offered to fly or foster at one point or another. Thanks to the Magnificent Seven--David, Tana, Leonard, Norman, Kerry, Ralph and Jerry who actually flew a leg for this guy. Thanks, too, to Robert (who deferred to David for first leg), to Julian, Bob and Dom, who were actually scheduled to fly a leg when the weather stopped us, and to Mike for offering to foster should we go thru DFW area.

They say "it takes a village" and, in this case, it truly did. Scotch is lucky to have so many folks interested in his welfare.
