Flying Bundy at the Eleventh Hour
Poor Bundy was a terrified Schnauzer mix with bite wounds on his neck and head, just hours from euthanasia at the Fort Worth Animal Control Shelter. Somehow, Bundy and his plight came to the attention of Joyce Spayneuterurpets Pugh of Almost Home Schnauzer and Small Dog Rescue in Indianapolis IN.
Joyce had fosters in the Houston area, but none in the Fort Worth/Dallas area, so she contacted me. After one glimpse at Bundy’s expression in the shelter’s urgent listing, I signed on. Thanks to incredible coordination in the D/FW area by Amy Knight and Leah Forbes and quick boots-on-the-ground work by Suzanne Dube, Bundy was released as the clock ticked down on 8/9/2014.
After recuperating overnight from his neutering procedure, he was claimed by Suzanne, who boarded the drowsy boy for a night.
On 8/11/2014, I flew from Pearland Regional Airport in the Houston area to Rockwall Municipal Airport near Dallas to board Bundy for his flight to freedom. Back at Pearland Regional, we were met by Gina Damian-Moreno and her husband, Mike, who immediately transported Bundy to a vet for treatment and evaluation. Gina and Mike are now fostering Bundy until he is fully recovered and ready for adoption. It was a privilege to be part of such a dedicated team who worked so quickly to save this deserving soul, literally snatching him from the jaws of death.
