CAHOKIA, Ill. – A good-hearted pilot went the distance Wednesday for some puppies who needed a rescue.
We were at the St. Louis Downtown Airport in Cahokia, Illinois when he landed with four American Eskimo puppies.
The dogs are from Kentucky. Their owner recently died, and they need new homes.
Robin Dahle volunteers with the group “Pilots N Paws,” which transports rescue dogs around the country. He says they handled the trip very well.
“What happens is they usually curl up and go to sleep cause the noise, it’s just a droning noise and they just fall asleep,” Amy Jennings of American Eskimo Rescue of St. Louis.
They were brought here by the group American Eskimo Rescue of St. Louis. A member tells us unlike general shelters, they specialize in the needs of this specific breed.
“We are better able to place them in adoptive homes and then that opens up room in the shelters for other dogs to come in and be rescued.”
Depending on the age of the dog, the group charges $175 or more for adoption fees.
