Sammy The Pomeranian

Sammy the Pomeranian was brought to a shelter in a box on a trailer load of firewood and dumped before Christmas. At 14 years old, he was toothless, deaf, and had a skin infection, parasites, and serious eye issues. His chances of not being gassed in the gas chamber were not good. That is where we came in. PomRescue.com tries to help the neediest of Poms. That day we picked up 3 Pomeranians at the shelter, all with serious health issues.

Six months of vetting, love, care and rehab and Sammy was ready to go to his forever home. This summer is one of the hottest we can remember, and the thought of sending him with all his special needs and being only 6.4 lbs on a long, hot, road transport was just not feasible.

We asked our fellow rescuer and friend Charity Foerster, if she could coordinate a Pilots N Paws rescue transport flight and she did. In just a few hours we had our pilot, Christophe Masiero to volunteer!

The very next weekend (6/20/2015) Sammy had wings to his new home with Jennifer Porter on the coast of NC. I want to thank Charity, Christophe-Pilots N PAws and Jennifer for a job well done to complete this rescue mission!  (Christophe’s wife made a fantastic pin for Sammy that had the Pilot Pom Airlines pic on it)

Here is a short video of the day of the flight.https://youtu.be/NH8gEAF7Rj4
