Hope’s New Life

May marked one year since Hope and her 3 newborn puppies arrived in rescue with Black Dogs & Company Rescue with assistance from Pilots N Paws. I am sure sometimes doing what you all do you wonder how the story ends.

Upon arrival

Upon arrival at the Taylor family’s home.

Hope arrived in our home emaciated, covered in ticks, she had Lyme disease and was also Heartworm positive and pretty close to feral…she also had three 72-hour-old puppies. Her puppies all grew and grew and were adopted out into loving families last summer.

Hope was treated for Lyme and went through heartworm treatment. In April it was confirmed that the heartworm treatment was successful and Hope is free from the dreaded parasites. She was finally able to be spayed and was formally adopted by my family, her foster family who has loved her since day one where she will become a permanent member of our “pack”.

Hope’s recovery and rehabilitation has gone well, she seems to follow the lead of our confidant Border Collie Mix, she adores our children and on two occasions has alerted us to them being sick at night. She very much is my husband’s girl, on nights when he works late she waits and watches the door not resting until he returns home.

We are slowly exposing Hope to new adventures with our family, over the holiday weekend she joined us on a hiking trip and even enjoyed swimming. I do believe in my heart she is right where she belongs and am very grateful to your organization and pilot Steve Shoop for the role you played in her journey.
