Nothing like a little puppy ‘luv on a Sunday morning from dogs that were on the Code Red shortlist at a local shelter.

These sweet pups were pulled by APAW (Animal Placement Agency of the Windsor) and fostered by Pam Hensley in Wilson, NC before being flown up to safety in New Jersey on 11/8/2015. I flew the first leg from Rocky Mount-Wilson to Tappahannock, VA. Pilot Barry Schultz flew the second leg of the relay.

Here in NC many county shelters operate in a constant state of Code Red. With our lack of statewide neutering laws and an overpopulation issue out of control, this means animals in the shelter are in danger of being euthanized “at any time.” In the height of the season, that shortlist can mean only have a few days from the time they arrive if not pulled by a rescue group or adopted. It’s important to understand owner surrendered pets are automatically put on Code Red shortlists; county shelters are not the place to take your dog should you need to find a new home for Fido!
