Many thanks to Owen Bordelon who was VERY instrumental in making this come all together, along with Donna Shannon and Bill Helfand. I gave you a small donation. Not sure if it went through. Thanks so much! This would have been much more difficult without your wonderful group! Well, there’s a LONG back story. Our beloved Squeaky, who was 19 1/2 yrs old, died on October 25, 2015.

Shortly after that I saw Mushu listed on the Urgent Cats of Tampa Bay FB page & decided I had to have him! (I am very active in the saving animals communities on Facebook and other social media.) I wasn’t looking for a new cat but there he was! So I posted over & over asking if someone could rescue him from the shelter until I could find a way to get him here to me in Katy, TX (near Houston.) Finally a woman named Debi Ferris sent me an urgent message to “friend” her.

About a week later she rescued Mushu and fostered him for 3-4 weeks until I was able to get him here. I looked into 2 groups Pilots N Paws and “Imagine Home” and decided to go with your group as I thought it would be better for Mushu to have as little time as possible in transit. Owen Bordelon was my first contact and eventually flew the middle leg of the journey. We corresponded several times by text and phone. He was extremely helpful in getting Mushu to me. So he is now safely ensconced in our home and ready to meet our other critters: our black Lab, Maxie, Irish Setter, Henry and our other cat. When we got to the Sugarland, TX airport on Dec. 5, where Bill Helfand was to fly in, we think we saw him taxiing because about 1 minute after we walked inside the airport he walked in with Mushu! It was great timing. Now I’ve also made new friends through this journey. Mushu is a real talker- he always “chats” with me when I come into the room.

Mushu is now very much a part of the family. He and Henry have bonded and “hang out” together all the time. They even groom each other!

Thanks for reading our story and for the wonderful members of Pilots n Paws!
