PNP Flight To Sandord, Maine

Kempen Air was flying again late this afternoon, into the early evening to ensure the safe passage of one of our four legged friends from Smithfield, RI to Sanford, ME.

Gerry belongs to a non-profit organization ‘Pilots N Paws,’ a group who volunteer their time and use of their personal aircraft for animal rescue. The distinguished passenger today was “Izzy,” a 2 year old French Bulldog. She started her day in Latrobe, PA. A volunteer pilot flew her to Scranton/Wilkes Barre, PA where she boarded a Pilots N Paws connecting flight to North Central airport in Smithfield, RI. Gerry flew to Smithfield to get Izzy going on the last leg of her trip.

I was fortunate enough to be invited along. After some pleasantries were exchanged at the airport and after Izzy made a quick evaluation of Gerry’s abilities as a pilot by looking him up and down, she boarded her crate which was then placed on the rear passenger seats. An IFR flight plan was filed for a dusk departure and Izzy got a night time view of Boston while enroute to Sanford.

Her excited new owners met her on the ramp at Sanford. They presented Gerry with a gift for his generosity in helping Izzy find her way to her new loving owners. Well done Gerry, this mission sure beats the $100 hamburger run!

Thanks again, Gerry.
