CrisisDogsNC’s Unexpected Litter Takes PNP Flight

Jude sent in the following story:  Hennessy’s pregnancy slipped unnoticed at the physical exam that got her out of the rural kill shelter on an emergency rescue by CrisisDogsNC.  The hefty brindle Mastiff x Pit met Tyler Spell, a young police officer who took her home.

Hennessy had begun her heartworm treatment, a month of doxcycline in preparation  for the ‘fast kill’ injections, and we decided to spay her when her treatment was over.  Only one glitch, the weight gain Tyler noticed was not simply a result of her appetite.  Of the litter of nine, five survived.  Two months later four chunky puppies piled into baskets and took flight in Dr. William Chalfant’s Beechcraft Bonanza A36 from the Clinton Sampson airport in North Carolina to Mount Airy.  On landing they went into Carolina Canine’s foster program.
