Hot Pavement Can Burn Paws

I would like to inform the pilots and volunteers about how hot the pavement gets in Phoenix and Tucson during the summer months.  I’m sure it is also the case in other Southern states.  Some pilots may come from cooler climates and not realize that a dog could burn their paws extremely quickly if they are walked on a leash during the daytime usually from the end of April until sometime in October.  Our pavement truly gets hot enough to fry and egg.  The pilots with the program are so wonderful doing such an amazing service for all of the rescue animals.  We have just seen too many well intending owners take their dogs out during the daytime in the summer and not realize that the paw are burning.
