44th Freedom Flight

Our 44th Freedom Flight last week brought us up to 94 animals transported.   It was a huge team effort, combining 3 different requests.   The number of people involved was too long to list everyone, but we need to give a nod to a few of them:

Roger was an incredibly cute senior Jack Russell mix.  His foster, Brad, had a hard time giving him up, but he knew Tracey, his new adopting mom would be great for him.   Roger met us at French Valley for his 2.5 hour flight up to McClellan in Sacramento.  Tracey was there and waiting, super excited to get to take Roger to his new home.
Since it’s a longish flight up to Sacramento, we found 2 other dogs from NorCal to pick up on the way back.  A quick stop in Modesto connected us with a puppy named Izzy.  The other rescue came via the help of another PNP pilot,  Bill Hockett, who was helping find a ride for another senior boy named Tucker.  Tuck was rescued by Norma, a wonderful lady in her 80’s who is still doing rescue work.  Meeting her and her daughter was a pleasure, and an inspiration.   I hope to still be involved in this, as she is, in my 80’s.
From Modesto we flew to Brackett Field with Izzy in Kim’s lap, and Tucker resting in his carrier.  A quick stop Brackett delivered Izzy to her foster, Joe. From there it was a quick flight back to French Valley,  where Tucker rode with us in the car to meet Letitia who would foster him.
This was a long day, around 6 hours of flying, but we couldn’t have done it without the help of numerous people,  all of whom have our gratitude.
