So Many Puppies to Hold

So Many Puppies to Hold

Yet another rescue flight for pilot Jeff in Florida.  He is well over 600 animals transported to date!

Jeff woke up to a beautiful day to fly and took full advantage of it.  He departed from the Florida Keys and flew to Valdosta, GA.  In Georgia, he picked up 26 Dogs/Puppies. Fifteen of the doggies were delivered  to Sarasota, FL.  Before calling it a day, he dropped the weimaraner mom and 10 puppies in West Palm Beach, FL. All of the passengers had first-class service in Jeff’s Cirrus and seemed to enjoy the flight.

How do you get that many dogs in that plane?

SARASOTA – Pilots delivered a new life for dogs on the Suncoast Monday. 26 canines made it safely to Retrix Aviation in Sarasota from Georgia.

The Pilots N Paws program rescues dogs from high-kill shelters and flies them to new locations around the U.S. Two poodles will now retire as therapy dogs for a Sarasota nursing home.

“We have two poodles that were owned by a dog trainer who used to be on Johnny Carson. And they’ve gotten old and the wife has passed away and the man is now dying, so he gave the dogs up for rescue. They’re going to an assisted care facility here,” says pilot Jeff Bennett.

“Keira plays the piano and they both have a little football thing that they do, they kick the football and go and get it. If you hold it to them, they do their own punt. So they’re entertained, they’re obedience trained, and they are perfect. Since he is terminally ill, they’re going to Kobernick House and retire and be loved for the rest of their life,” said one recipient.

All the dogs have homes before they make the flight. Local animal rescue groups work with the organization for placement arrangements.
