Pilot Doug Oakley shares his experiences on a recent transport…

Rosie requested a window seat.

Rosie requested a window seat.

I just had to share this picture of Rosie looking out the side window of my 172 as I taxied away from her rescuers at Wallace, NC. She was one of three pups we moved from Wallace to Caldwell, NJ to link up with fosters prior to going to their forever homes. This was the first PNP transport for this rescue team in Wallace. I think they were genuinely pleased with the response from the pilot community. All three dogs were perfect passengers. Lady, a Siberian Husky, was especially interested in the flight as she stood and watched out the window most of the way, when she wasn’t looking over my shoulder watching me fly. Look carefully and you can see Lady looking out the window as we climb out of ACZ.

A bump in the window fortunately wasn't a bump in the road.

Leslie Eyster at the sending rescue, Pender Co Animal Shelter, adds her two cents:

I would also like to send this very touching

This picture just captures something very special. Its a touching moment with Doug the pilot and Rosie with Doug’s wonderful plane in the background. It shows to me Doug’s comittment and compassion in getting Rosie and her friends to safety.

On behalf of all of the shelter personnel and shelter volunteers, animal rescuers and animal lovers, THANK YOU so much for all that you do.
