Rate Limited

Post by Jimmysilvs » Fri Jun 21, 2024 8:32 am

Hi - I have recently been receiving "rate limited" errors and am unable to access the website for a few minutes. I am not on VPN and have no automation. Is anyone else having this issue?

Hi Jimmy - there was an update to some rules lately that might cause this.
Who is your ISP? Are you by chance on Starlink or Viasat? it seems they pool alot of their traffic into one IP that the server sees as one user and it got a little overeager.

Nope - I’m on Verizon Fios. Seems like the new rules need to be adjusted. I access the site maybe a few times per day and not in quick succession (that I presume would trip something and cause a rate limited error).

I updated the rules this morning - should be good now. Looks like it was a bit eager default settings... unfortauntely, we have to keep up with things like this as the volume of bad traffic is 3-4x good traffic... always looking for tech volunteers :-)
