Max is an English Pointer that had a bit of a rough life and ended up in Maine with foster Amy Herrick or American Pointer Rescue. He finally was ADOPTED into his forever family, Mike and Lisa Norman of St. Anne, IL.

This trip covered nearly half of the United States and transport was set up with one car ride and four different airplanes/pilots to get Max to his new family. We all kept in touch during the day of transport through a group text that worked phenomenally. Kudos to Amy for setting this up.
Myself and friend/pilot Kevin Mounts had the last leg of Max’s trip into Indiana where the Normans had driven to get him. All across the trip, weather was great! A rare occurrence for March in the northern US. Max was dropped off at Medina Municipal Airport in Ohio and you could tell he was tired. When we loaded Max up, he was asleep in the back seat before engine start. Our flight to Indiana was flawless and landed just before sunset.
Max slept the ENTIRE flight over and just as we were on final approach for Runway 18 at Monticello, IN, our back seat passenger stretched and knew we were landing. We met Mike and Lisa Norman who brought another Pointer with them. Max made one big jump off the plane and with tail straight up and wagging he was meeting his new parents and four-legged companion. Lisa said he will fit right in. Max will now have a good life as they prepare him to be a hunting dog with his partner.
Overall, a great trip with a successful outcome for everyone. We made an 20+ hour drive in less than 10 hours by airplane. It doesn’t get any better than that!
