From Trash to Treasures
I was notified by Heidi Pritchett, a Rescue Volunteer for Noah’s Animal Refuge in Mobile, AL a couple of weeks ago about 2 puppies that had been tossed out in a popular animal dumping ground. A sweet animal lover named Meghan picked the girls up 2 days before Christmas and brought them home to get them healthy. She had them vetted, wormed and spayed then started searching for permanent homes for them.
Heidi was able to line up a rescue to take each of them, PAWS of Michigan didn’t hesitate to take Princess, the German Shepard mix and Lucky Lab Rescue of SE MI was more than happy to take Daisy, the lab. All that was left to do was to get them delivered safely. This took a big team of air and ground transporters, but the puppies were able to make it to their destination in 24 hours, with an overnight party in Knoxville, TN.
I would like to thank the people who made this possible. Meghan Graham, who took them into her home, had them vetted, nursed them back to health, then cried for them when they left, Heidi Pritchett and Leigh Stonecypher for arranging and monitoring the transport, Joey Kennedy, writer for AL.com for flying with us to document the PnP flight, ground transporters Debbie Strawn, Malleny Andrews, Amy Chandler, Chantel Murrah, Marcy Shirel, Cyn Mobley, Jennifer Reeves, Caitlin Pennington, Marla Struck with Lucky Lab Rescue and Sue Reining with PAWS of Michagan. Everyone worked together so beautifully, even when schedules got pushed back and family emergencies warranted a change in lodging. The 2 pups that started their lives as someone’s throwaways, have ended up being treasured. They each have several adopters waiting to see if they will be the lucky ones to get to raise them.
