The challenges faced by shelters and rescue groups as they try to improve the plight of unwanted animals now reaches millions of people on sites like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Terms like pet overpopulation, puppy mills, backyard breeders, and dog fi ghting are now familiar to the general public. Better informed as to the high numbers of perfectly healthy animals nationwide that need homes, people considering pet adoption are thinking creatively, including expanding their search criteria.

This rise in visibility has led to a whole new arm of animal rescue…transporting these shelter animals across the country to their new homes or rescue groups. Two such rescue transport organizations are Pilots N Paws and Kindred Hearts Transport Connection.”
