Meet Ms. Pixie & Her Pups, 1 Boy & 3 Girls

Ms. Pixie, as she’s called because of her tiny stature, was found sitting right on the yellow line in the middle of a very busy highway in Oakhill, West Virginia.  Soon after, rescue volunteer Denise Riner, stopped and snatched her up, saving Ms. Pixie from certain catastrophe from speeding cars, Denise discovered the tiny pomeranian was pregnant.

A trip to the veterinarian revealed the pups were too big for Ms. Pixie to deliver safely so she had an emergency C-section and we’re happy to report that mom and babies are all doing fine and are now up for adoption through the Chicagoland Eskie Rescue made possible with the help of Pilots N Paws.

This was just the beginning of Ms. Pixie’s adventurous rescue tale.

From West Virginia, Ms. Pixie and her babies flew first class to Indianapolis by volunteer PNP pilot Dr. Tom Nasser in his private plane. Assisting is PNP volunteer Marilyn Mitzel. Ms. Pixie smiled during the entire flight, as if she knew she and her pups were safe and were in loving hands. Ms. Pixie sat up front in Marilyn’s lap during most of the flight but continued to look back in the crate to make sure her babies were okay and a couple of times went back to nurse the pups during the flight. She is a very good, sweet, loving momma.

Upon landing in Indianapolis, volunteer PNP pilot George Green from Chicago flew Ms. Pixie and her babies back to Chicago where they are being cared for in a foster home until permanent homes can be found for all five of them.  The babies are all thriving and growing in leaps and bounds.

Our thanks goes out to all of the PNP volunteers who helped save Ms. Pixie and her pups. We hope they will find their “furever” homes very soon.

And last but certainly not least, a very special thanks to Paula Cortiana, Founder & Director of Chicagoland Eskie Rescue who paid for Ms. Pixie and her babies vet care and giving them a second chance at life and being loved.

would love to have ms Pixie or one of her little girls some day or a little dog like this. We have two elderly rescue dogs who are very sweet and happy. I’ll miss them when they eventually pass away.

How do I go about getting a dog from piolets and paws I am looking for a girl lab 4yrs or older blk prefer but also will look for a yellow.

Veronica, we only assist in transportation of animals and not actually placing them. Your best option is to look for rescues in your area. You will likely find a breed specific rescue for labs. If one is not close, that is were PnP may be able to help move the dog to you. Thank you for adopting, and good luck.
